Mary Hatch
Painter "I’m in love with color and telling stories - mysteries, like childhood memories, resonating feelings just beyond my grasp. Sometimes a painting arrives almost fully formed in my mind but mostly it begins with a tiny bit of information and evolves, until finally it seems to have always existed. The figure captured me at an early age and I have rarely strayed from that focus - which has now followed me into a wonderful old/ new art form. Printmaking has eluded me for years. The traditional methods being too indirect, I finally found an unlikely ally in the computer. I discovered that paint and pixels are remarkably similar. As layers accumulate like paint on canvas in random fashion - a narrative begins to unfold & carries me along." Mary Hatch's work has been shown in over 30 one-person exhibits in as many years and is included in more than 300 public and private collections throughout the US and Canada. |
