Barbara H. Weber Yoffee
Barbara H Weber Yoffee, GIA G.G. “When I was eight years old, I watched a family friend design and create two magnificent custom rings for my mother, using the ancient technique of granulation. From that point on I knew that gems and jewelry were my passion. It is amazing how contemporary ancient jewelry can actually be!” Archeological treasures of ancient civilizations, particularly those of Egypt and Mesopotamia, have been a primary inspiration for Barbara’s work. The vibrant colors and landscapes of Brazil, India, and China where she has traveled extensively, have also captured her imagination. She designs and creates her unique earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets in her Santa Fe studio. Her classic designs are composed of fine metals and precious gems . . . pearls, turquoise, emeralds, tourmaline, carnelian, lapis lazuli, jade, onyx, topaz, and sapphires. Barbara uses fair trade materials, recycled gold and silver, and environmentally sound production methods. She has produced collections for museum shops, such as the “suq” at the Oriental Institute, University of Chicago, and for the Santa Fe Opera Shop as well. Barbara is a Graduate Gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America, a member of the American Gem Trade Association, the New Mexico Jewelers Association, and the American Society of Jewelry Historians.
