Blown Glass Wonderful glass ornaments are created by twin brothers James and Tim Harkenrider. Blow pipe in hand, they begin each ornament with a gather of 2000 degrees molten crystal. Colors blended by the twins are then applied to the gather and reheated. Once fused, the piece is brought back to the bench where years of teamwork are employed to blow and shape the composition into its final form. The ornament is then "knocked" off the pipe and completed with a molten glass bit formed into an eyelet. |
