Mary Ellen McNaughton

Mary Ellen McNaughton’s childhood was spent in Europe; that experience and her continuing fascination with nature are the sources of her inspiration. Her work tends to fantasy with mystical implications and often involves subconscious promptings and dreams. Mary Ellen works with low-fired clays and glazes. After the basic construction, she scores the clay and later decorates the sculpture with an extensive
palate of glaze colors.
Mary Ellen lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan and teaches at Aquinas College.
